Mother's Day

Oh, of course I had a great Mother's Day.  I wish everyone could experience the the same happy feeling I have had recently on Mother's Days.  My kids just crack me up.  I was cleaning up the kitchen on Sunday and Hannah wanted me to play with her instead of clean.  She said, "Why don't you tell Dad to do that?  It's Mother's Day!"  Little does she know that Mother's Day does not give mom a day off.  In fact, most moms are busier on Mother's Day than other days!  We visited my mom who had made strawberry shortcake (even though I told her not to do anything!), then we visited Shawn's mom and grandma who had made a full dinner and dessert for all of Shawn's siblings, kids -- everyone!  The boys were on cleanup duty, which is always a fun sight to see.  Especially fun to see Shawn's brother John chip in, as he is always insisting that cooking and cleaning is women's work.

My kids gave me the cutest flowers made out of cookies, courtesy of my creative mother.  (point and shoot camera disclaimer!)

The kids put them together but my mom was the mastermind behind them.  I ended up copying her and had the kids make them for Shawn's mom and grandma as well.  Then I got a little carried away and made one for everyone in the Relief Society since I had to teach that Sunday!   Chance made me a little book and this cute picture at school.  I wish I could post the book but since it's multiple pages and I scanned it as a .pdf I wasn't sure how to do it.  He just makes me laugh.

Then, of course, my biggest kid gives me this card:
I laughed SOOO hard!  I am always complaining about my body, especially now that I'm expecting, always talking about how fat I'm going to be, how he's not going to like me, etc. etc. etc.  I love her bum.  I swear mine looks just like that, just a lot bigger.  Chance wanted to see what I was laughing at and said, "Mom, it's you looking in the mirror and me poking my head in watching you."  Obviously it had to be Chance looking at me because Shawn has no hair!  ha!  But what Shawn wrote on the inside was so sweet, reassuring me that I'm just fine the way I am.  He is a sweet dude.

Speaking of babies, I had another ultrasound yesterday.  I thought this picture was so cute, you can see the baby's leg and foot kicking up, and it's elbow.  It was moving around like crazy in the ultrasound!

Another great thing about my kids is that they are so caring and considerate about me.  Since I have been so sick with this baby, I lie down in bed a lot.  I know I'm lucky, a lot of moms can't do that even when they're sick as a dog.  But since my kids are older and Shawn is home in the evening to take care of them, I will lie down and rest and take Tylenol, waiting patiently for the weakest drug on earth to put me out of my headache misery.  Chance (yes, Chance, who HATED coloring so much in Kindergarten I never thought he would pick up a coloring utinsel again!) made me this card one day when I was sick.

My kids are so thoughtful and sweet, it makes me so grateful to be a mother.  I love them so much!
